Talks Remade@ARI – Juraj Sládek (HiLASE center, IP-ASCR, Czech Republic)
To kick start this year on the ReMade@ARI project (project in which the CMAM participates), we would like to inform you about an upcoming talk given by a member of our very own Smart Science Cluster, Juraj Sládek from the HiLASE center, Institute of Physics (IP-ASCR), Czech Republic, who will present Towards sustainability by applications of laser processing.
This talk is organized by our project partners at Laserlab-Europe.
31 January 2024, 4:00pm CET
Online. The link will be shared upon registration.

Abstract: Laser material processing, aside from cutting and welding applications, is also applicable for advanced surface modification of a broad range of materials, most of which are the well recyclable ones (eg. metal, glass, plastic). This includes surface functionalization to achieve superhydrophobic, self-cleaning or passive antibacterial surfaces, reduced friction and wear of metallic components, increased surface area for battery electrodes and more. In addition, a technique of Laser Shock Peening (LSP) is used to extend lifespan of mechanical components. Many of these methods can help us to improve functionality of products with an impact beneficial to the environment. In this talk, several laser processing applications will be discussed and demonstrated on use cases.
More information: This Talk is part of a series of webinars where Laserlab-Europe members introduce their techniques to academic and industry users in the field of recyclable materials. Transnational Access is provided to international scientists to more than 50 research infrastructures as part of the ReMade@ARI project. Laserlab-Europe Talks is a series of online seminars and panel discussions proposed and organized by the Laserlab community on specific topics (thematic or research-specific) and provides a platform for regular information exchange and knowledge sharing. The Talks take place monthly on a Wednesday afternoon and are open to all interested parties, from PhD students to experts in the field and industrial and medical partners. Previous Talks can be watched on our YouTube channel.
