Title: From nanomaterials to tailored therapies: a multidisciplinary journey in cancer research
Abstract: Tumors are like people: each one is unique and demands a different therapeutic approach. Their molecular diversity requires strategies that move beyond one-size-fits-all treatments toward tailored anticancer therapies. During my PhD, I investigated polyurea dendrimers as multifunctional nanoplatforms for cancer treatment, exploring their use as drug delivery systems and active nanotherapeutics. Distinct responses were consistently observed across cancer types and mutational contexts, highlighting tumor heterogeneity as a key design parameter.
Currently, my research focuses on proton therapy in colorectal cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, specifically investigating the impact of distinct mutational backgrounds, and on the development of iron-based nanostructures for glioblastoma as tailored therapeutic strategies.
