Abstract:
The (100) face of magnetic Fe4N can have two different structures, which are studied here with STM and LEIS as the main tools. The combination of these complementary methods leads to a better interpretation of STM images, a precise determination of the structures, and provides better understanding of the driving force for the reconstruction. The atom positions were determined by comparing measured and simulated angular LEIS scans. The merits of this program are briefly discussed.
