Open Postdoctoral Position in Ion Beam Analysis of Operando Alkaline Metal-Ion Batteries

logos Postdoc-OPERA project

The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, in collaboration with the OPERA EU Project Battery2030+, is offering a one-year postdoctoral position to investigate alkaline metal-ion batteries, specifically Li-ion (LIBs) and Na-ion (NIBs) batteries, using ion-beam techniques (IBA) at the Centro de Microanálisis de Materiales

The selected researcher will be involved in characterizing batteries using IBA, focusing on the evolution of Li and Na depth profiles during battery operation, charge-discharge kinetics, mechanisms responsible for capacity fading, alkaline-ion losses, and cyclability degradation. Additionally, the researcher will contribute to setting up scientific equipment required for cycling batteries under conditions compatible with the ion accelerator for operando measurements. She/He will also assist other groups in postmortem measurement of battery components.

A PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or Material Science is required, along with experience in electrochemistry of batteries or ion beam analysis.

Interested candidates are encouraged to send a declaration of interest enclosing an updated CV to . The incorporation would follow with a formal application meeting the administrative requirements.
