Title: Engineering photocatalyst and plasmonic based nanostructures for multifunctional applications
Abstract: Semiconductor photocatalysts and plasmonic nanomaterials have revolutionized the multidisciplinary research field in a great extent due to the ease their modification and also better understanding of light matter interaction as well as availability of huge amount of solar light. Such nanostructures are promising materials under the influence of solar radiation for various field including energy production, controlling the environmental pollution and improving the health of the society etc. Particularly, plasmonic photocatalysts, composed of photocatalyst semiconductors and plasmonic nanostructures, are promising multifunctional nanomaterials which have gained considerable attention in the field of interdisciplinary research. These nanomaterials show multifunctional applications in the field of health, energy and environment due to the synergetic contribution from the photocatalytic and plasmonic properties of the constituents. This talk will include tailoring of optical properties of plasmonic and photocatalysts nanostructures through chemical as well as ion beam synthesis for their multifunctional applications in waste water treatment i.e. photocatalysis and SERS ultra-detection of organic pollutants etc.
