CMAM and CNA arrange the fifth GUPIX Training school together with UAM
27.09.2010 - 29.07.2010
Guest house San José - Madrid

CMAM and CNA, together with the Autonomous University of Madrid and The University of Seville, have arranged a GUPIX Training School to take place in Spain on the 27th of September of this year. This school will be structured very similar to the schools that took place in 2005 in both Paris and Florence, especially as regards their interactive nature, with the "students" solving PIXE programs on individual computers as we proceed. The school will be run by Professor J.L. (Iain) Campbell, from University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada and assited by Dr. Novella Grassi, from LABEC, INFN Florence. They will present a detailed exploration of the capabilities of GUPIXWIN, and They will assist students in analyzing real spectra with GUPIXWIN. There will be an emphasis on the many special features of the program which make it a versatile tool for PIXE, but which are sometimes not used to their full capacity. Attendees will be expected to bring their own laptops, so that everybody in the group can follow the discussion and use the software (demo copies will be supplied if necessary). There will be the opportunity for attendees to present their ideas for enhancements to the existing software.

Attendees will meet on the 27th of September, 2010 and the sessions will take place on 28th and 29th. The school will take place in The Escorial (the historical residence of the Kings of Spain), 45 km north of Madrid. Our event will be in the Guest House “San José”, Avda. Reyes católicos 12, El Escorial, Madrid, that is just beside the railway station.
