Description

The Energy 2012 workshop has started today. The workshop is taken place at Pabellon C of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid during the next 4 days.

The international workshop aims at reviewing and debating, between scientists and industrial companies, the problems of energy production in relation to high-tech materials needed by future energy sources such as nuclear fusion, fourth generation fission, high efficiency photovoltaic and fuel cells. In particular the workshops wants  to focus on how the modification techniques and the analysis of materials with ion beams can contribute to the definition of the properties and suitability of materials and the development of future sources of energy production worldwide. This workshop aims at sharing ideas and results at the crucial moment when the community has to select and plan the production activity in view of the implementation of feasibility projects (such as ITER, IFMIF, etc.).

The workshop is organized by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). The program Campus of International Excellence UAM-CSIC is structured along four internationally outstanding research lines of which one is the Nanoscience and Advanced Materials, supported by several advanced infrastructures including the Center for Micro-Analysis of Materials (CMAM), equipped with an electrostatic accelerator of 5 million volts, quite active in the modification and characterization of materials with ion beams.
