Description

Speaker: Andrés Redondo Cubero, Technological and Nuclear Institute (Portugal)

Ion beam physics and semiconductor science at the Technological and Nuclear Institute (Portugal)

Abstract:

This talk will summarize the research work developed in the field of semiconductor science at the Instituto Tecnológico e Nuclear (Portugal), a large-scale facility providing high-energy ion, electron, gamma and neutron beams. The application of ion beam techniques to the characterization of wide bandgap semiconductor materials (GaN and ZnO) will be shown throughout some examples. In particular, the advantages of sublattice-specific analysis of crystal ordering via ion channelling phenomena will be demonstrated in ZnO compounds. Additionally, the useful application of the nuclear microprobe beamline in the case of GaN-based microdevices (such as high electron mobility transistors) will be also discussed.
