How to reach the CMAM

By plane

If you arrive at the Barajas airport the simplest way to reach the CMAM is by metro and train. Take the metro line 8 from one on the terminals direction Nuevos Ministerios. There are vending machines: the one way ticket sells at 4,50 €. Get out at the terminus in Nuevos Ministerios and change to the Cercanías RENFE (local trains). You have to by another ticket for the train: please select Cantoblanco Universidad. You can take either a train of the C4a line, direction Alcobendas San Sebastián de los Reyes, or a train of the C4b line, direction Colmenar Viejo. Both have a stop at Cantoblanco Universidad. From the station follow the Campus main pedestrian street (Calle Thomas y Valiente) and follow the signs to the CMAM. If you arrive at Terminal 4 of Barajas airport, you can take a bus of the 827 and 828 line, which have a stop at Cantoblanco Universidad. 

By train

If you arrive by train you will get either at the Atocha (Madrid centre) or at the Chamartín (Madrid north) station. From both you can take a Cercanías RENFE local train. You have to buy a ticket: please select Cantoblanco Universidad. You can take either a train of the C4a line, direction Alcobendas San Sebastián de los Reyes, or a train of the C4b line, direction Colmenar Viejo. Both have a stop at Cantoblanco Universidad. From the station follow the Campus main pedestrian street (Calle Thomas y Valiente) and follow the signs to the CMAM.

By car

If you arrive by car please take into account that the easiest way to access the CMAM is through the North Entrance of the Cantoblanco campus, which is located on M616 road (Camino de Alcobendas).

From the Madrid Area

If you arrive from the Madrid area there are, besides the local trains, several bus services that you can use. Please consult the access page of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid for further details. If you wish you can use your bicycle: there are reserved bike tracks that lead to the campus.

Access to the CMAM

The CMAM is open to visitors from 8:00 to 20:00 Monday to Friday. A security desk will check visitors logging their ID and the purpose of the visit. Visitors are not permitted inside the CMAM outside these hours if not accompanied by a CMAM member.

Recommendations to users

All external users of the CMAM accelerator, no matter if they are long term collaborators or short term visitors, must comply with the following:

1. Register as user by our Administration and Human Resources Division (AHRD). In case of long term collaborators the registration must be done by the CMAM member who takes part in the collaboration.
2. Get information about the safety rules that apply in the Universidad Autonóma and in the CMAM in particular.
3. Report to the Radiation Protection Supervisor for obtaining full information on the rules that must be obeyed while working at the accelerator and for being provided with a personal dosimeter.

Useful information

In the campus there are two student residences managed by the RESA Company that can be booked also by visitors. Please visit the UAM web-page or the RESA web-page for more information.

In the campus there are several cafeterias and restaurants that can be used by our visitors. All are within walking distance from the CMAM and are open at lunchtime only, with the exception of the students residence restaurant open as well for dinner.

Parking is available in close proximity to the CMAM. Downloading of heavy goods can be done entering by car the CMAM internal court.

In the CMAM building a fully furnished kitchen is available to members and visitors. Cold drinks and coffee vending machines are located next to the kitchen.
